A TUESDAY BLOG? WHAT MADNESS IS THIS?
Well, basically because I'm still getting into the SWANG OF THANG with work, and I need to spend more time working on building up more articles so I can generate more ad revenue, you guys are going to have to deal with an erratic schedule. So if you don't follow me on twitter or facebook, now might be the time to jump on it.
That being said, lets take a brief moment to discuss what is wrong with the world today. Yes kids, that's right. I'm doing a ranting entry.
Now, I'm a day or two late to the party, I know. But maybe some of you haven't heard of Jessi Slaughter.
Who is this young lady, you may ask? Well, there's a large and well written Encyclopedia Dramatica article on Jessi Slaughter. And a news article 60,000,000 news articles about her story. And Gawker even wrote an article called How the Internet Beat Up an Eleven Year Old Girl.
But if you just want to hear it here:
Jessi Slaughter is like a lot of eleven year olds today. Far too big for her britches. She's got a horrible foul mouth, and fancies herself something of a great video blogger. She ran her mouth on Tumblr a lot. Oh, and she posted a picture of her in her panties holding her naked breasts in her hands in a parody of censorship.
And the hive-mind of Tumblr didn't respond well. And became her "haters."
So she made this video.
Take a moment to watch that.
Yes, she actually says she will "pop a glock in your mouth and make a brain slushie." Yes, she tells people to "Get AIDS and die, suck a dick and die."
Bits of her Tumblr (unfortunately wiped at midnight from Google Cache, it was hilariously bad, though) include phrases like "I party till I pass out and fuck till I bleed."
Did I mention she's eleven? (The rest of her story as well as the video of her infamous "breakdown" are behind the cut)
Yes, she is stupid enough to act like an idiot on the internet. And normally, this wouldn't phase most hardened internet users. However, someone on 4chan started a "You rage, you lose" thread, and then a raid on trolling little Jessi. The next day, Jessi posted this video on youtube:
Consequences will never be the same!
Clearly she's got a strong and supportive family background there. Lets ignore "backtraced it" and "cyber police" and "consequences will never be the same!" When asked for comment on the original video where Jessica threatened to shoot people as well as challenged the internet by saying she was "unphasable", her mother responds "I haven't seen it. I don't even go on the computer." Uhhhhhhh, now might be a good time to start.
I do think that the raid went a little far. It would have probably sufficed to stop with the hate emails and comments on her YouTube, but naturally - if it's worth doing, its worth overdoing. Anonymous, the jokesters that they are, sent mail, pizzas, flowers, and even hookers from CraigsList to Jessi Slaughter's house. The funniest thing, though, is that later that night, she jumped on StickCam to greet the hive mind of the internet, and actually laughed and said "I don't care, I'll take whatever fame I can get." (Unfortunately I could not find the youtube video of that up anymore, but if you look around hard enough, you could find it in her rapidshare download pack thanks to Anonymous and ED) But later that evening, police arrived at her house, and shortly after that, child services were involved. Apparently the internet took it into their own hands to send the nearly-naked pictures of little Jessica straight to the police department, as well as child protective services.
At the advice of the police, Jessi removed MOST of her personal pages from the internet. No more tumblr, no official youtube, no more myspace or facebook. She still has an unhacked twitter which she's posting to, despite the fact that she is technically supposed to be banned from the internet for at least three days. I assure you that she will be resurfacing on the internet shortly, probably starting on facebook and working back to tumblr.
Good job, kid. You might want to lay low for a while.
So basically this whole thing has sparked "SHOULD WE PUNISH AN INTERNET TROLL?!?!" and a "SHOULDN'T WE CENSOR THE INTERNETS LIKE WE DO WITH TV AND RADIO?" debate.
Yeah, okay. Make that argument, insane lobbyists and technophobic politicians. But shouldn't you guys start enforcing internet rules you already made in 1998?
Shouldn't you start thinking about holding parents more responsible for what their kids do online? Or maybe you could make Net Nanny, Bess, and other parental control software available for free?
Oh, no. Clearly the internet is fully to blame. Get rid of it all.
Pfff

Yeah in all honesty, people will find other people to point fingers and pin the blame at. In this case, We're clearly at fault. (no) Quote
In short, I am disapoint, little girl. I am disapoint at you and your ineffectual parents. Quote
